The Organisation
The hospital is a 99-bed facility with a referral community area of 55,200. The hospital is committed to providing a range of comprehensive services including acute medical and surgical services, obstetrics, paediatrics and a range of diagnostic and allied health services. Adult Medical services include respiratory, cardiac, chemotherapy, renal and palliative care. The hospital has a busy emergency department, a Level 3 Close Observation Unit, mental health unit and renal dialysis unit. Surgical services include general, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology and ophthalmology.
The hospital is spacious, modern and well-equipped with the most recent development opening in 2019. Tablelands Clinical School is part of the UON and UNE Joint Medical Program where medical students undertake clinical placements and attend teaching at the clinical school which is exceptionally well resourced with simulation laboratories and tutorial rooms.
The Job

As an Emergency Medicine Consultant, you will be responsible for the provision of direct patient care, daily clinical supervision and management of Emergency Department (ED) Services.

You will deliver, as part of a small dedicated team of emergency specialists, excellence in clinical care every patient, every time.

Emergency Medicine Consultants will promote seamless continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient services.

You are expected to participate in patient safety and maintain involvement in Clinical Governance issues and departmental meetings.

Actively participate in risk management and quality programs to improve organisational processes and own practices.

You will be on a 4 week roster - undertaking up to 20-30 hours per week.

Requirements

Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist (Emergency Medicine) and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.

Fellowship with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine or equivalent
