The Organisation
This regional hospital is a public hospital that is co-located with the local private hospital. The two hospitals share a range of facilities including an emergency department and suites for a radiology practice, pathology service and residential and visiting specialists. 

The public hospital has 103 inpatient beds consisting of six wards – surgical, acute psychiatric unit, medical, maternity, paediatrics and a high dependency unit. It delivers health care to more than 80,000 of the region’s local residents as well as visitors. 

The facility also contains a Primary Health Division, offering a range of services for inpatients and outpatients, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dieticians, incontinence and diabetes educators, speech therapy and social workers.

The Job 

• As Orthopaedics Registrar, this position will give you the opportunity to improve your orthopaedic skills under direct supervision, and for those interested in applying for a position in the Orthopaedic Training Program

• The role offers a minimum of 12 months quality orthopaedic experience working alongside 6 Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeons and 2 Orthopaedic Trainees

• You will be responsible for the clinical care of patients under the supervision of senior medical staff including attending to patients in order of medical urgency, taking history of full medical examinations of new admissions and arranging appropriate investigations and assisting with medical procedures as required

• You will collaborate with other medical, nursing staff and multidisciplinary team members to facilitate patient management and communication with family, outside medical practitioners, and/or community services concerning patient management

• This position is full time (80 hours per fortnight), commencing February 2021

• Salary package as per WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2016: Registrar Year 1-7, $130,145 to $174,823 p.a.

Requirements

• Registered or eligible for General registration as a medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner’s Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or eligibility for the Competent Authority pathway
