This Health Service encompasses 29 facilities and treats more than 85,000 admissions annually. They see on average 158,000 people through the Emergency Department and support the birth of nearly 3,000 babies per year.
The Integrated Mental Health Service provides specialist services including extended inpatient and community services and a range of specialised clinical programs. The service is supported by a team of health professionals including nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers. Other services include an Adult Community, Older Persons, and Child and Youth Mental Health Services.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Staff Specialist/Senior Staff Specialist to provide psychiatric care with a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and a passion for continued self-education and development
Working within the Older Persons Mental Health Service, you will provide a high standard of care for patients and their families and ensure their needs are at the centre of all your decisions
A high level of interpersonal communication skills are essential, as is an empathetic, kind and supportive approach to care
You will have demonstrated, advanced level clinical skills working with older persons and families within OPMHS services, in a variety of community and inpatient settings
You will have proven clinical excellence and demonstrated ability to research, develop and implement high quality major teaching and educational initiatives both within OPMHS services and at undergraduate and postgraduate level for a broad range of mental health disciplines
You will undertake clinical responsibilities including on call, providing patient care, liaison with other units and referring hospitals,and maintaining appropriate records and confidentiality, including obtaining and documenting consent

Base salary between $179703 - $227843 p.a

Registration with or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Psychiatry
Fellowship of the Royal Australian & New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalent
Further professional qualifications/broad experience in psychiatry of old age e.g. membership of the Faculty of Psychiatry of Old Age (FPOA)
