You will join a pathology service that has a staff of over 70 employees including a team of 8-9 pathologists and 3 registrars. You will work routinely in Anatomical Pathology with ongoing supervisory responsibility for Clinical Chemistry and very occasionally Medical Microbiology.
The service is a modern, well-resourced, NATA accredited laboratory performing around 7,000 anatomical pathology cases and 1,200 non-gynaecology cytology cases per year. Forensic/coronial post-mortem work is available if desired.
Surgical referrals comprise General, Colorectal, Breast, Endocrine, Hepatobiliary, Plastic/Reconstructive, Head and Neck, Orthopaedic and Urology cases. Medical referrals are comprised of gastroenterology, haematology, oncology, respiratory, obstetrics and gynaecology cases. You will communicate with the clinical community through the weekly multidisciplinary meetings in Urology, Respiratory, Oncology, Gastrointestinal and Surgical meetings.
You will also have responsibility to drive the laboratories relevant quality assurance programs and demonstrate leadership in the provision of continuous professional education. A commitment to teaching and research is strongly encouraged and supported by the Tasmanian Health Service

You will hold FRCPA or equivalent, or be close to completing your specialist qualifications, and will be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
