The Hospital
This 114-bed level four regional referral hospital provides a range of acute specialist services (resident & visiting) including Emergency Medicine, General Medicine, General Surgery, Paediatric Medicine, Oncology, Haematology, Obstetrics, Intensive Care, Respiratory Medicine, Endocrinology, Neurology, Rehabilitation Medicine Renal Dialysis and Rheumatology.
The 24 hour Emergency Department (ED) sees 19,500 emergency presentations per annum. More than 2,500 operations are performed annually with a full scope of General Surgery. The facility has 10 maternity beds and 600 babies are born each year.
The Job
- As Senior Resident Medical Officer / Resident Medical Officer your responsibilities will include coordinating the admission, management and discharge planning of patients in the Unit, and ensuring that the admission and plans are documented in the medical records
Day-to-day assessment and management of patients in the Unit, communicating with them and their family the nature of their condition and its treatment
Communicating and coordinating care with the team, arranging consultation with other staff when appropriate, arranging discharge and liaising with local medical officers and other community based care modalities
Participation in the after-hours and relief roster

Requirements
- Currently registered or eligible for Provisional or General registration as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
- MBBS or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years postgraduate experience including prior Obstetrics and Gynaecology experience
- Minimum Level 2 supervision requirement
- Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years
- Ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
