The Organisation
The hospital is the major centre in the Midwest district of WA. It has 66 hospital beds for acute medical, surgical, paediatric and maternity patients. The hospital provides a 24-hour Emergency Department. It also provides a range of services including chemotherapy, renal dialysis, a hospital at home visiting service, medical imaging, pathology and same day surgery.
This hospital has three medical teams, each managed by a consultant, registrar and junior doctors. Teams are responsible for inpatient and outpatient medical care including: High Dependency Unit, Hospital in the Home, Renal Dialysis and Oncology services. In addition, medical teams provide a high level of support to complex surgical and orthopaedic inpatients and other services.
The Job

As a General Medicine Consultant, you will undertake direct clinical care of patients, especially in acute care and the High Dependency Unit.

You will supervise and teach junior medical staff, evaluate quality of care and outcomes and implement programs to enhance quality.

You are responsible for developing and implementing training programs for Junior Medical Staff and medical students as required.

You are expected to participate in the educational programs for other health service staff as requested

You will participate in continuing medical education programs and maintain knowledge and expertise regarding current developments in General Medicine.

Requirements

Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
-
Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
