The Organisation

The hospital is the major centre in the Midwest district of WA. It has 66 hospital beds for acute medical, surgical, paediatric and maternity patients. The hospital provides a 24-hour Emergency Department. It also provides a range of services including chemotherapy, renal dialysis, a hospital at home visiting service, medical imaging, pathology and same day surgery. 

This hospital has three medical teams, each managed by a consultant, registrar and junior doctors. Teams are responsible for inpatient and outpatient medical care including: High Dependency Unit, Hospital in the Home, Renal Dialysis and Oncology services. In addition, medical teams provide a high level of support to complex surgical and orthopaedic inpatients and other services. 

The Job 

• As a General Medicine Consultant, you will undertake direct clinical care of patients, especially in acute care and the High Dependency Unit. 

• You will supervise and teach junior medical staff, evaluate quality of care and outcomes and implement programs to enhance quality. 

• You are responsible for developing and implementing training programs for Junior Medical Staff and medical students as required.

• You are expected to participate in the educational programs for other health service staff as requested 

• You will participate in continuing medical education programs and maintain knowledge and expertise regarding current developments in General Medicine.

Requirements  

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent

• Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
