The Organisation
This hospital is part of the largest country health service in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to over half a million people, including over 50,000 Aboriginal people, covering over a vast two and a half million square kilometres area. The service handles almost as many births as the State’s major maternity hospital – and 40% of the State’s emergency presentations. They provide a range of health services including acute inpatient and emergency care, population and public health, mental health, Aboriginal health, aged care and includes an increasing number of services provided by telehealth video-conferencing.
The hospital is a 135-bed facility and is the biggest hospital and health care complex in the region. The hospital incorporates 24-hour emergency care with a wide range of support services including an acute psychiatric unit, coronary care unit, cancer centre, domiciliary care unit, geriatric assessment unit, hospice care unit, maintenance renal dialysis unit, obstetric services, paediatric services and a dental unit.
The Job

As a Consultant General Medicine Physician, you will undertake direct clinical care of patients especially in acute care and the High Dependency Unit.

You will be responsible for supervising and teaching junior medical staff, evaluating quality of care and outcomes and implementing programs to enhance quality.

Consultant General Medicine Physicians are expected to participate in departmental and other meetings to meet organisational objectives.

You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely discharge summaries and effective patient flow through the hospital..

Participate in performance management appraisals, ensure relevant occupational safety and health practices and other duties as directed by the Director.

Requirements

Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
-
Eligibilty for Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)

Eligible for/or in possession of a current C or C-A Class drivers licence
