The Organisation
This metropolitan Health Service provides acute, sub-acute, primary and community?based health services to a catchment of approximately 400,000 people. The hospital provides care through a range of services that include trauma services and most major medical and surgical subspecialty services.
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides tertiary level obstetrics and gynaecological services to the ACT and surrounding regions. The hospital has more than 3700 births per year and is a level 6 referral centre for high risk pregnancies for the region. The department is accredited by RANZCOG for the FRANZCOG Training Program and subspecialty training in Maternal Foetal Medicine. Gynaecological services include the early pregnancy unit, specialised clinics including Urogynaecology, Complex Pelvic Pain Clinics, Outpatient Hysteroscopy, Colposcopy, and visiting Paediatric Adolescent Gynaecology and Gynaecology Oncology services in addition to acute gynaecology and theatre lists. They provide full health checks, including health history, basic physical examination, routine screening, cervical screening, and lifestyle advice. Services are delivered within a multi-disciplinary context.
The Job

Join as an Obstetrics & Gynaecology Consultant and provide clinical expertise in both Obstetric and Gynaecological practice, manage inpatients, conduct regular teaching ward rounds and provide ward support to the team of registrars and junior medical officers.

You will conduct clinical duties including oversight of the birthing suite, acute gynaecology, outpatient services and the operating theatre

You will participate in non-clinical duties that contribute to the growth of the Department, such as teaching, supervision, audit, research and committee representation.

Participate in the on call roster for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology at a pro-rata basis according to service requirements.

You will work collaboratively with the Medical, Nursing, Allied Health and Administrative Leads and contribute to the education and training of all members of the clinical team.

Undertaking other duties as directed, provide leadership and coordination in clinical governance and overseeing quality improvement and risk management activities.

You will provide leadership including professional development, teaching and training, research and innovation, and participate in learning and development opportunities.

Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) or equivalent
