This Health Service is an innovative and dynamic organisation dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the community. It serves a population of over 40,000 people and the Emergency Department sees approximately 25,000 patients per year with a rate of admission of 35%.
The hospital is a modern campus built approximately 10 years ago with a full perioperative suite including 4 operating theatres (incorporating endoscopy), day surgery and recently installed complete new digital anaesthetic machines and patient monitors. The maternity unit has approximately 500 births per year. Surgical services include general surgery, orthopaedic (elective) surgery, O&G, urology and ophthalmology. A 7 bed combined ICU/HDU/CCU supports complex surgery.
You will be required to provide clinical work as well as provide supervision and support to Registrars and Junior Medical Officers working within the Department.
The Unit is a 7-bed CICM accredited Intensive Care unit for regional & Foundation training with facility to admit 2 invasively Ventilated patients. CRRT facility available.
Patient cohort mainly Medical and Surgical. No major trauma (Head injury) admissions.
Covered by full time Registrars 24 X 7. More than 70% of nursing staff is experienced, trained and critical care accredited.
