The Organisation

The hospital is a 300-bed public hospital that treats over 24,000 inpatients and over 225,000 outpatients every year. The hospital aims to provide a sustainable, high quality and safe health system. The hospital provides acute care services and is the major referral centre for North and North West regions of Tasmania. It is a teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania. There is a strong emphasis on medical education, the hospital is currently accredited as a training hospital by ACEM. 

The Job 

• Work as a Consultant Haematologist in providing consultation services in General Haematology, Malignant Haematology, Transfusion and Coagulation and other subspecialties of Haematology as required. 

• You will provide a diagnostic and consultative service for inpatients and outpatients in adult and paediatric haematology. 

• Consultant Haematologists are responsible for teaching, supervising, and training students, postgraduate specialist trainees and other groups of hospital staff.

• Participate in an after hours on-call roster, research activities, and quality meetings.

• You are expected to actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety processes, development and implementation of systems, initiatives and related training.

• Base salary starting from $159,262 to $242,079, plus allowances and private practice scheme, motor vehicle, communication and professional development allowances of up to $50604 per annum

Requirements  

• Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP)or equivalent, and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) or equivalent
