The Organisation
This Health Service provides health services to a fast growing regional area and serves a population of approximately 214,000 residents. Since its establishment on the current site in 1914, the Hospital has grown into the major medical centre, providing high quality care within an environment of continuous improvement. Services currently available at the Hospital include intensive care, coronary care, obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedic surgery, general surgery, vascular surgery, 24-hour emergency medicine, pharmacy, medical imaging, pathology and comprehensive mental health services. Allied Health services include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, speech therapy, psychology and social work.
The Job
The role of the General Medicine Specialist is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services
The General Physician will be involved in research as well as teaching the health professionals of the future.
You will supervise and teach advanced trainees, junior medical staff, and students.
You will foster clinical, academic, and research relationships within the hospital, Health Service and broader academic community.
The General Physician will contribute to improvements in quality of service by participating in clinical audits and clinical meetings within the Department of Internal Medicine.
Participate in and facilitate educational activities in the Department of Internal Medicine.

Requirements
Specialist qualifications in General Medicine, such as Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent
Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
An interest and or expertise in Respiratory, Gastroenterology or another sub speciality would be highly desirable but not essential.
