The Organisation
This health service is geographically the largest of the seven regions in the largest country health service in Australia, and covers 770,488 sq km. The hospital is a 100-bed inpatient facility that houses an emergency department and provides a range of services including an oncology unit, obstetric services, maintenance renal dialysis unit, paediatric services, psychiatric unit, palliative care unit (which includes accommodation units for cancer patients) and areas for allied health services such as physiotherapy, occupational health, audiology, dietetics, podiatry and social work. This health service handles almost as many emergency presentations in the metropolitan area combined and sees over 40,000 annual presentations.
The hospital is just short of 600km from Perth and a hub for the Rural Clinical School of Western Australia, with excellent shopping, school and recreational opportunities, a gateway to explore the outback and the southern coastline.
The Job

Work as an Emergency Medicine Consultant and join a multidisciplinary team of physicians committed to providing comprehensive emergency services to all patients across the region.

You will be providing a 24 hour emergency service, including telephone or video-conference consultations and advice to WA Country Health staff in Multi Purpose Sites.

A busy Emergency Department with varied cultural and medical challenges will give you many opportunities to gain hands-on procedural skills and a broad clinical experience

Consultants are expected to manage, train and supervise Senior Medical Practitioners, Intern, Resident Medical Officers and Registrars in collaboration with the Regional Director of Medical Services.

Actively participate in service development activities such as Medical Emergency Team/Response, governance meetings and mortality and morbidity meetings.

Requirements

Eligibility for specialist registration as a medical practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)

Fellowship of the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent
