You will join the Hunter New England Mental Health Service network, which covers an area of 130,000 km² and employs over 1,700 mental health clinicians. HNELHD is recognised as a leader and innovator in the healthcare industry.
The John Hunter Hospital (JHH) is a major teaching hospital and the Primary Tertiary Referral Centre for Newcastle and northern New South Wales. The 650-bed hospital is the main teaching hospital of the University of Newcastle. The hospital contains the only trauma centre in New South Wales outside the Sydney Metropolitan Area, and has the busiest emergency department in the state.
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, Nexus is a 12-bed inpatient unit located at JHH. The unit provides services for children and young people aged 5 to 17 years.
You will provide admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient and on call specialty services.
There is opportunity for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and supervision of junior medical staff.
You will join a fantastic multidisciplinary team providing specialist mental health care and treatment to children and young people presenting with acute mental health issues as well as support to their family and carers.

Eligible for Specialist or Limited registration with AHPRA.
FRANZCP or equivalent specialist qualification.
Certificate in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent. Or be able to meet this criteria in the next six months.
