The Organisation

You will be working for an innovative and dynamic organisation dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the community, committed to providing the highest levels of healthcare and services. The health service covers a population of approximately 116,000, across two major sites located approximately 50km apart. 

The region’s medical services are based across two hospitals, a private hospital is co-located at one site that facilitates private practice for many of the region’s specialists. There are anaesthetic services provided at both sites. A busy general orthopaedic and general surgical service is based at one site with the other providing predominantly day surgery cases. 

The Rural Clinical School of the University of Tasmania is located on campus, and the health service participates in a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program with the Rural Clinical School.

The Job 

• Work as a Consultant Anaesthetist and provide specialist anaesthesia services for public and private inpatients and outpatients.

• You will liaise with specialist colleagues for the provision of services and provide a consultative service including pain management to other specialist units. 

• You will assist in arranging aeromedical referral or onward referral of patients for specialist services not available locally. 

• You will participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs of the hospital, including both informal and formal tutorials, and teach junior medical staff and medical students attached to the hospital. 

• Participate in continuous quality improvement activities, Department and Hospital committees, clinical research and other administrative matters as required by the Clinical Director. 

• You will participate in an out-of-hours on call roster with other specialists. 

• Permanent full time, day work (with on call) working 76 hours per fortnight.

Rewards

• Salary between $163,005 - $228,206 p.a. and package up to $414,402 including allowances  

• Allowance in lieu of private practice of 35%

• Recruitment and Retention allowance of 25%

• Professional Development Allowance of up to $24,927 per annum

• Fully maintained vehicle or allowance in lieu up to $24,346 per annum

• PLUS benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits, if eligible

Requirements  

• Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)

• Fellowship of The Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent
