You will be working in a 119 bed facility with 100 hospital care beds and 10 maternity beds. Each year there are approximately 19,500 emergency presentations, 2,500 operations and 600 births.
This Base Hospital provides a 24 hour Emergency Department (ED) with 15 ED spaces. The ED is supported by an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and also equipped with telehealth cameras to connect the team in Griffith with specialists across the NSW Critical Care Advisory Service.
There are a range of specialist services (both resident & visiting) including emergency medicine, critical care, general medicine, surgery, paediatric medicine, oncology, obstetrics, respiratory medicine, renal dialysis and rehabilitation.
Additional services include physiotherapy, dietetics, social work, pharmacy, occupational therapy and Aboriginal health. There are also a range of diagnostic services including Pathology, CAT Scans, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound and General X-Ray.
You will form part of a team of two (2) Career Medical Officers working together, to provide on-site medical care for all adult medical hospital inpatients admitted into the Base Hospital and Community Health Services including the wards, ICU/HDU, Hospital in the Home (HITH), Rehabilitation, Renal dialysis and surgical patients requiring medical consultation.
You will work independently and specialise in facilitating and coordinating the care and for acute and chronically ill medical patients working across all clinical departments and care settings to provide medical care and participate in the Rapid Response Team.
The General Medicine Career Medical Officers will work together with Specialist Physicians in accordance with competencies.
The Career Medical Officers and the specialist teams will work collaboratively to achieve the best possible outcomes for the patients.

Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
You will have at least three years post-graduate experience and appropriate training and experience to undertake the role.
High level skills and involvement in clinical care, supervision, mentoring and teaching. Able to exercise a moderate degree of professional independence.
IMGs with Level 3-4 supervision requirements can be considered. The Unit cannot support doctors who require L1-2 supervision.
