The Organisation
You will be working for an innovative and dynamic organisation dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the community, committed to providing the highest levels of healthcare and services. The health service covers a population of approximately 116,000, across two major sites located approximately 50km apart.
The region’s medical services are based across two hospitals, and a private hospital is co-located at one site that facilitates private practice for many of the region’s specialists. There are anaesthetic services provided at both sites. A busy general orthopaedic and general surgical service is based at one site with the other providing predominantly day surgery cases.
The Rural Clinical School of the University of Tasmania is located on campus, and the health service participates in a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program with the Rural Clinical School.
The Job

Join a team of 2 Visiting Medical Officers, 2 Staff Specialists, a Clinical Director of Surgical and Perioperative Services and a supportive team of registrars and JMO’s.

As a Clinical Lead, you will provide specialist orthopaedic medical care to patients attending the hospital/service.

You will work with the Clinical Director - Surgical and Perioperative to provide a high level of strategic leadership and direction, ensuring resources are efficiently utilised, the highest standards of service delivery and financial targets are met.

Work collaboratively with other service Clinical Directors and Clinical Leads, Nursing Directors, Allied Health leaders and Executive Director of Medical Services of the hospital to assist in providing leadership to services at a state-wide level.

You will participate in the on call roster which is 1:4.

Full time, fixed term, day work (with on-call), position working 76 hours per fortnight, for a period of three years.

A short term contract (minimum 6 months) may be negotiated.

Base salary range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 is $163,005 – Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $228,206 with further salary increments available

Allowance in lieu of private practice of 35% calculated on the salary

North West Recruitment and Retention allowance of 25% calculated on the salary

Professional Development Allowance of up to $24,927 per annum

Requirements

Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in General Surgery with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA)

Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) or equivalent
