The Organisation
You will be working in a 300-bed public hospital that treats over 24,000 inpatients and over 225,000 outpatients every year. There is a strong emphasis on medical education and due to its accredited teaching hospital status, the hospital also enjoys close links with both the University of Tasmania, as well as the School of Nursing, which is also based here.
The dedicated acute mental health service provides both inpatient and outpatient services. Currently the service operates a 20 bed inpatient facility and community mental health services with clinic-based and community settings. In addition, the service operates a crisis assessment team service and both older persons, and children and adolescent mental health services.
The Job
- As Clinical Director, provide high levels of strategic leadership and direction, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery are achieved in accordance with Statewide Mental Health Services (SMHS)/Department of Health (DoH) policy directions, service standards and financial targets.
- Provide the Clinical Executive Director - SMHS, Executive Director Medical Services - SMHS and the SMHS Executive, with high quality and authoritative advice on a range of clinical administrative and governance matters.
- Represent SMHS within the local Hospital facility through the provision of high-quality consultation, authoritative advice and leadership. Including working as a part of the local Hospital management team.
- 0.5 FTE will be allocated administrative time as approved by the Clinical Executive Director - SMHS.
- Some intrastate travel will be required.
- Participation in an after-hours on call roster will be required.
- Permanent, full time, day work (with on call) position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing 1 August 2022.
Rewards
- Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 - Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $159,262 - $242,079 per annum.
- In addition to salary, provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $24,346 per annum.
- Communication allowance of $1,903 per annum.
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $24,355 per annum.

Requirements
- Current Specialist or Limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Fellowship The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP).
