Provide specialist care to public and private patients
A chance to develop rural and remote surgical services
You will to provide specialist care to public and private patients and perform acute and elective surgery. Your work days will combine clinical, leadership and administrative duties such as recruitment, policies and processes, leadership, audits and quality activities. In addition, you will participate in the after-hours roster.
It is anticipated you will have recent experience in General Surgery including open, endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery and have GESA accreditation or approaching.
This is a full time permanent position with the potential for private lists, negotiable.
This Local Health District has a mission for Excellence in Rural and Remote Health, and is committed to empowering staff and the community to Live Their Best Life. It covers 194,949 square kilometres in remote NSW. The District is sparsely populated, with 62% of its approximately 30,000 inhabitants living in the city. The remainder of the population live in agricultural towns throughout the District. The population is decreasing, ageing and experiencing significant morbidity related to lifestyle factors and chronic illness.
The 100-bed hospital services a wide area with a population of 25,000, and provides a range of acute, non-acute and outpatient services. It has an Emergency Department, general medical, surgical, obstetrics & gynaecology, paediatric, mental health and sub-acute beds. Support services include Pathology, Medical Imaging (CT scan), as well as a wide range of Allied and Primary Health services.
This city is a frontier mining town in the far west and outback of New South Wales. Inspired by generations of pioneers, publicans and restaurateurs, rising modern art scene, film makers, alongside some of Australia's most influential social advocates and mining entrepreneurs.
You will find the city has a rich and colourful history and is known for being the birthplace of the “Brushmen of the Bush”. It is a tourist destination for visitors wanting to access the gateway to the outback.
The local airport is located 6km from the city centre and is serviced by Regional Express (REX) providing regional passenger transport services each day. There are daily flights to Sydney, Dubbo, Adelaide and Melbourne via Mildura.
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) - General Surgery.
Eligible for Specialist registration with AHPRA.
Experience in clinical leadership and rural service development, desirable.
GESA accreditation or approaching.
