The Organisation
We are currently seeking applications from ENT surgeons to assist in developing and building ENT services and models of care for this region.
This region is in need of ENT surgeons with the ability to work independently across a broad range of general ENT conditions in children and adults.
We are looking for people with a desire to improve the health and quality of life of people in the region through their practice and to support the development of services particularly in providing excellent care with proficiency.
The public facility is a premier regional health service operates a 700-bed acute hospital that treats over 49,000 inpatients, deals with 52,000 emergency cases, delivers 1,400 babies, and performs over 110,000 medical imaging procedures annually. These services are complemented by an integrated Cancer Centre, an 80-bed Psychiatry Unit and 11 operating theatres where almost 15,000 surgical procedures are performed each year.
As a leading provider of comprehensive healthcare, services encompass emergency, maternity, women’s health, medical imaging, pathology, rehabilitation, community services, residential aged care, psychiatric care, community dental, hospice, palliative care, cardiology, cancer services and renal dialysis. The organisation combines outstanding services with a strong education and training culture with a University Rural Clinical School located onsite.
The Surgical Unit specialises in a range of conditions related to surgery including the pre and post-operative care of patients. The specialties include minor and major abdominal; ear, nose and throat (ENT); head and neck; facio-maxillary; urology; reconstructive; and thoracic surgery.
Locally, private practice opportunities are available at a 167-bed private hospital that provides a variety of specialty medical and surgical admissions, plus a day surgery centre with three operating theatres.
The Job
- This is an exciting opportunity for a group of ENT surgeons to build a thriving regional service only 90 minutes from Melbourne
- Currently there is no substantial ENT service in the region offering you a unique opportunity to create a flourishing service and to determine the balance between public and private practice
- Backed by the public and private facilities you will be supported to create a service for the community with the option to lead as Head of Department
- The ENT service will initially be supported by the General Surgical JMOs (Interns, HMOs and Registrar) with ENT JMO specific workforce to be developed as the service delivery increases.
- Theatre lists supported by theatre nursing staff and Anaesthetists.
- Outpatient Clinic schedule administered by Patient Service Team in collaboration with the ENT Consultants.
- You will provide specialist-level Otolaryngology Head & Neck care to patients across the region
- On-call duties as the consultant on call and the ability to conduct a full range of emergency ENT procedures undertaken within a regional referral hospital.
