Fast track registration pathway for General Practitioners
The fast-track specialist registration pathway for eligible internationally qualified General Practitioners opened in October 2024.
Australia’s health ministers approved the fast-track pathway for General Practitioners.
Specialist GPs with one of the following accepted qualifications are eligible to apply through the new fast-track pathway from October 2024:
- Membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP) from 2009 and a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST)
- Fellowship of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (FRNZCGP) from 2012
- Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (United Kingdom) from 2007 and a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).

Faster registration: The new fast-track pathway will significantly reduce the time it takes for you to obtain Australian registration.
More opportunities: With a growing demand for GPs, there are plenty of GP job opportunities available across the country.
