The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) offers several pathways for Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs), including Generalist, Fast Track, Academic, Subspecialist and Area of Need pathways.<\/span><\/p>\n

This guide explains the main RANZCOG pathways for international obstetricians and gynaecologists, what you need to apply, how the assessment process works, and what to consider when planning your move to Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Five RANZCOG Pathways for International O&G Specialists<\/b><\/h2>\n

If you’ve completed specialist or subspecialty training outside Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand, RANZCOG offers several pathways for Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs), depending on your training, qualifications, experience and career goals.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Generalist Obstetrics and Gynaecology Pathway<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Generalist pathway is the standard route to Fellowship (FRANZCOG) for most SIMGs. It is designed for specialists whose training and experience cover the broad scope of obstetrics and gynaecology.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Fast Track Pathway (Generalist Obstetrics and Gynaecology)<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Fast Track pathway is a streamlined option for eligible specialists who completed their O&G training in the United Kingdom or Ireland. Depending on the assessment outcome and recency of practice, applicants may follow Fast Track Pathway 1 or Pathway 2.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Academic and Common Scope Pathway<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Academic and Common Scope pathway is intended for highly experienced specialists with a significant academic, teaching and research profile who hold (or are progressing towards) a professorial appointment.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Subspecialist and Common Scope Pathway<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Subspecialist and Common Scope pathway is designed for specialists who have completed recognised subspecialty training in one of RANZCOG’s defined subspecialty areas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Area of Need (AoN) Pathway<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Area of Need (AoN) pathway is a position-specific assessment for doctors\u00a0seeking to work in a declared Area of Need position. It considers your qualifications and experience against the requirements of that specific role and does not lead to RANZCOG Fellowship or subspecialty certification.<\/p>\n

Generalist Obstetrics and Gynaecology: Who’s Eligible?<\/b><\/h2>\n

To apply via the Generalist pathway, you\u2019ll need to meet several eligibility requirements. You must:<\/span><\/p>\n
