RANZCP have also launched an accelerated specialist assessment process for international specialist psychiatrists who meet specific requirements.<\/p>\n<p>These amendments aim to streamline the registration process for Specialist International Medical Graduates (SIMGs) in psychiatry and apply to SIMGs who have not yet completed or undergone the RANZCP Specialist Assessme<\/p>\n<h2><b>What&#8217;s Changed for Psychiatrists?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Apply for assessment without a job:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> SIMGs can now apply for RANZCP Specialist Assessment without first securing a job offer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the assessment no longer requires a job offer, you will still need a confirmed job offer to begin your supervised practice once your assessment is complete.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The type of job offer needed will depend on your assessment outcome:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Partial Comparability:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A Psychiatry <\/span><b>Registrar-level<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> job offer is acceptable to begin this placement. More details can be found on the RANZCP&#8217;s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ranzcp.org\/training-exams-and-assessments\/comparability-placements\/partial-comparability-placement\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Partial Comparability Placement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> webpage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Substantial Comparability:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A <\/span><b>Consultant-level<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Psychiatrist job offer is required for this placement. Comprehensive information on suitable employment is available on the RANZCP&#8217;s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ranzcp.org\/training-exams-and-assessments\/comparability-placements\/substantial-comparability-placement\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Substantial Comparability Placement<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> webpage.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Accelerated pathway:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">RANZCP have also launched an accelerated pathway for international specialist Psychiatrists who hold the MRCPsych (UK) qualification with CCT\/CCST. For applicants who qualify, the assessment process will take approximately 9 weeks from receipt of application.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To be eligible for the accelerated pathway you must:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hold the MRCPsych (UK) as well as CCT\/CCST<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">have AMC primary source verification<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">intend to live and work in Australia or Aotearoa New Zealand permanently.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over time, the RANZCP plans to expand the list of international psychiatry qualifications that can receive accelerated status.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you don&#8217;t qualify for the accelerated pathway, you may still apply for the specialist assessment.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>How can we help?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At Elective Recruitment, we specialise in placing skilled Psychiatrists in jobs across Australia.
